Online mixing services
What is analog digital hybrid mixing, online mixing vs in studio mixing, analog mixing vs AI mixing
Online Mixing Services: Bringing World-Class Sound to You, Wherever You Are
n today’s music world, artists collaborate across continents. Files move faster than people, inspiration strikes anytime, and musicians want access to great engineers without needing to travel. That’s where online mixing comes in; and it’s one of the most powerful opportunities modern artists have at their disposal to elevate their sound.
As a mixing engineer and music producer with more than 25 years of experience —in Toronto, Canada, and now in Spain — I’ve seen how transformative online mixing can be when it’s done with care, communication, and great equipment. Here’s what you should know.
Why Online Mixing Is an Advantage for Musicians
Online mixing removes geographical limits. Whether you're in Barcelona, Berlin, Bucharest, Paris, or Toronto, you can work with a mix engineer who understands your music emotionally and technically — without the cost, the stress, or logistics of traveling. Affordable online mixing services allows you to work with engineers with top experience, who work in a top acoustic environment with a top monitoring system, and world-class equipment.
But beyond convenience, there are even deeper benefits:
- You choose the engineer that truly fits your sound
- You’re not limited to local studios; you can work with someone who matches your musical language, genre, and artistic vision - the things that matters most in a mix. You can work with someone that has the experience your music requires.
- You get access to high-end gear you may never otherwise use. Most musicians do not have access to mastering-grade converters, world-class compressors, analog summing, large-format monitors, or acoustically treated rooms. Online mixing gives you that advantage instantly.
- It allows you to work at your own pace.
- Work schedules, time zones, and life responsibilities don’t get in the way. You submit files when you’re ready. I mix when the studio is quiet and conditions are perfect.
- It’s often more affordable without lowering quality
- No travel expenses, no studio rental by the hour, no sitting through edits. You pay for the result and not the room time while you still getting commercial, radio-ready quality at an achievable price.
Is In-Studio Mixing Better Than Online Mixing?
Not if the engineer knows how to communicate. Many musicians wonder:
“If I’m not in the room, will the mix really reflect my artistic vision?”
The honest answer: It depends entirely on the engineer, and not at all on the distance.
When online mixing works extremely well
Online mixing becomes equal or superior to attended mixing when:
- the engineer learns the emotional goal of the song,
- communication is clear and structured,
- reference tracks are provided,
- the workflow is collaborative,
- revisions are welcomed as part of the creative process.
When online mixing falls short
Online mixing falls short only when:
- the engineer doesn’t listen,
- there is poor communication,
- the studio has a “preset approach”
- the engineer mixes quickly without understanding the story.
My philosophy is the quite opposite:I spend more time understanding the emotion behind the track than adjusting the EQ. Because a mix is not about trends, it’s about storytelling.

If communication is good, online mixing can be and is better than attended sessions, because you, the artist, get time to listen carefully, take notes, and think without the pressure of being in the room. You can go in person to a really good studio that has a history of good mixes, with excellent acoustics and monitoring, and you listen to your mix and you like it. However, as you are not really accustomed with the acoustics of the studio, when you go home and listen in the systems you are familiar with, you find problems that you didn’t hear in the studio. That automatically raises the anxiety and makes you unhappy.
Having the mix with you and judging it in the systems you’re familiar with, knowing you will get 2-3 revisions included and establishing a good communication with the mixing engineer is reassuring and will take you a long way. It helps you make better decisions.
Another advantage is that you can choose a mixing studio anywhere, not only in your area, a studio that has top equipment and acoustics, and the engineer has experience. The samples and the studio history - if the studio has them in their website- speak volumes when you are looking where to do your mix.
The Power of Hybrid Analog/Digital Mixing
oday, the best mixes combine the precision of digital with the soul of analog. At Fandango Recording, I use a hybrid workflow analog digital:
- analog compressors and EQs for depth, richness, and musicality
- analog summing for 3D space and width
- digital tools for surgical control and automation
- a tuned acoustic room and mastering-grade monitoring
- top AD/DA converters so the analog chain stays pure and detailed
Why hybrid mixing is superior to digital-only mixing
Digital-only mixes can sound precise but sometimes lack depth, warmth, and emotional impact.
Analog gear adds:
- harmonic richness
- smoother transients
- deeper bass
- wider stereo image
- a more “alive” sound
For emotional storytelling — especially in organic, acoustic, rock, folk, jazz, singer-songwriter, indie, and world music — analog is unmatched. And that actually applies to pop, EDM, in fact to any genre. You will hear the difference immediately!
How We Make Online Mixing Feel Human and Comfortable
Most artists fear that online mixing feels “distant.”
I work hard to make sure the opposite happens.
Here’s how I ensure great communication:
A clear preparation guide
You receive instructions on exports, naming, formats, and organization. No guesswork. Beside the notes, we can also talk, it is so easy today with whatup or any other services through internet, and actually free.
Emotional briefing
Before mixing, I ask you about:
- the story of the song
- the key emotional moments
- what must stand out in the mix
- how do you see the song dynamic evolution, and the overall sound desired.
- tracks that may not be recorded well, and need to be edited or “helped”.
- your favourite reference tracks
- what you don’t like in other mixes
This gives me the emotional map for the mix. Then, as the mix happens, I may have questions related with and we can discuss them or text them, so I can bring your vision fully to life.

Fast preview delivery
I send the first mix as soon as it’s ready — without rushing quality. You listen on your own speakers, headphones, car, whatever you trust.
Structured revisions
Of course, you may want some changes, maybe the vocals more upfront, maybe some instruments louder or less loud or anything else you feel we need to address. You will send notes, and I apply them. I welcome the revisions because they help the mix match your inner vision. For each mix, there are three revisions included.
If you’re asking for the mix of an album, we go from song to song, as when you work analog the recall is usually more difficult, so once a song is finished, we move to the other song.
Honest, respectful communication
I have a long experience, and that will definitely allow me to help you creatively; you will feel guided, supported, understood, and never rushed.
The goal is always: your song at its highest potential.
How you can benefit from Fandango Recording:
World-class acoustics
The room is tuned for accuracy, it was designed professionally, and what I hear is the truth.
This means your mix translates everywhere. In the FAQ section I am presented the graphs of the frequency response of resonance time of the control room.
High-end monitoring
Professional monitors reveal details that consumer speakers hide.
This is key for balanced, emotionally impactful mixes.
Premium analog hardware
Your tracks travel through equipment chosen for character, depth, and musicality.
More than 25 years of mixing and mastering experience
From Toronto to Europe, I’ve mixed artists across genres and languages. You benefit from my decades of trained listening and artistic sensitivity.
Online Mixing vs. Automated or AI Mixing Systems
AI tools are improving — but they cannot replace a human mixing engineer. Why is that?
Because mixing is not a mathematical process. It’s an emotional, intuitive and artistic process.
- AI can measure loudness.
- AI can match EQ curves.
But AI cannot really understand:
- the story behind your lyrics
- how the vocal should emotionally sit
- when something feels too aggressive
- how the dynamics support the arrangement
- the subtle tension and release that make a song breathe
The essence of it is that a human engineer shapes emotion, while AI shapes numbers. If you want your song to move people, the human ear will allways wins.
If you’re ready to bring your music to a higher level — with emotional sensitivity, world-class analog sound, and a friendly, structured online workflow, I’d be happy to help you.
You can send me a message anytime, share your song, and we’ll discuss and explore the best way to bring it to life; no pressure, and you get to know me and the way I work. I am sure you will decide afterwards to work with me. Let’s make something beautiful!
Stay tuned,
Flo
